Susan May walked free from prison today after serving 12 years for a murder she did not commit. She will continue her fight from the outside until her name is cleared and justice is done.

Susan's Statement

Here is an excerpt of the statement that Susan read after her release this morning (26.05.2005)

"I am pleased to be free from prison but in reality I will not be totally free
until this injustice is recognised and my name cleared. I was fitted up by
Oldham police and I have been failed by the justice system..."

Friends of Susan May Statement

Here is the statement released by the Friends of Susan May today (26.05.2005)

"We are overjoyed to see her released. But the fight has never been simply to secure her freedom from jail - important though this is. She's an innocent woman who has served 12 years for a crime she did not commit. Susan has been failed by the system. The real fight is to get her conviction quashed - and her name cleared."

...Back in her home town of Royton, Susan was overcome by emotion during the first of many media interviews. She described how her first stop after leaving prison was the cemetery to visit the graves of her Aunty as well as her parents, who both died while she was in prison.
